Did it! I hit the 40 pound mark. I've got a cool new second digit in my weight now. I'm sure I'll be back up tomorrow, but I think I'll be back down again after that. It's like measuring liquid; it sloshes around a bit but eventually settles to a level, and that's going down.
In other news, we made ice cream the other day with raspberries from out back. It was doggone delicious but still had texture issues. The glycerin and lecithin came in, though, and we made a batch of chocolate using them last night. By the end of the freezing time it was still less hard than the other batches had been, and it didn't get hard and stick to the freezing container like the others had. I'm encouraged. Tonight will be the real test.

Oh, incidentally, the cheesecake ice cream did in fact rock up the next day. It's still orgasmically delicious, but you have to nuke it for like a minute before you can get it out of the container. I got the email that my lecithin and glycerin are on their way, so sometime this or next week I'll make a new batch and I expect good things. I'm thinking about adding a spoonful of Keto pudding mix to the equation too; it's vile as pudding but maybe the gums and stuff in it will work in small quantities to make the ice cream work. I promise to post the recipe once I've debugged it more thoroughly.

Man, I am at the Mother of all Set Points. I'm pretty much at the weight I held through my 20's and my body is really, really comfortable here. It's much better than it was, of course, but I sure would like to break out of this bouncing around the same five pounds rut that I've been in for a good month or two now. I look at the numbers, and am encouraged to see that it is sloooowly trending downward; in early April I was batting five pounds up and down but on average they were five pounds higher than I am now. The first 30 pounds peeled off so quickly that it's tough to believe how slowly the rest of them are going, now that I have relatively little to lose. I have to remember to trust the good doctor and just stick with it, and that it's not a race, but man, I've spent an awful lot of my life at this weight and I'm really eager to break that next barrier. My body shape was finally starting to change last week; parts that have been the same shape for decades were changing up a little bit, and I started to get excited that my new muscle is burning those old, established fat deposits for the first time. Of course, then I busted my stupid foot and screwed it all up. Waah. I'm hoping the abrupt change in exercise level will shock my body into something different, that if it got accustomed to all that exercise maybe now it'll get used to being sedentary and when I get back into walking and kickabutt I'll switch into something new. Just rambling here, trying to figure it all out. Whatever happens will be okay.

Oh muh gahd. The cheesecake icecream is Un. Be. Lievable. It's only had an hour or so in the freezer, so I don't know yet if it'll go rock hard. If it's still scoopable and lovely tomorrow I'll post the recipe. You will love me.

Dairy, dairy, dairy. I've had a bit of a bad stomach today so I ate a lot of yogurt. I'm making a new batch now, waiting for the thermometer to beep at me to let me know the cream's down to the proper temperature to mix with the starter. I also made a batch of cheesecake ice cream. It's in the freezer now, hardening up, but cleaning the dasher and other parts of the ice cream maker makes me very optimistic about its quality! Also made a new batch of whipped cream, because god forbid the whipper should sit empty, ever. I'm pretty sad about my busted toe. I'm so hooked on the karate and walking everywhere, I'm not sure what I'm going to do to avoid losing everything I've worked so hard for. I'm not sure how long it'll be until I can do karate again. I guess I'll concentrate on my upper body but I'm going to go nuts as long as I can't get out and walk. Hope the pain stops soon.

Well, so, I've been saying I need to raise my carbs lately, but half a Capri Sun isn't the way I'd have preferred to do it! I think there must have been 20-30 grams in the sips I took of the stuff. Dag! That's only the second time I've intentionally had sugar in any quantity since last fall. I don't think it'll harm me, of course, but it was nice to have an unbroken streak there. Back on the horse tomorrow.

I've ordered some specialty ingredients to try to deal with the ice cream texture issue. The second batch came out even harder than the first, so it's time to hit the laboratory. Quick reviews: the new Atkins granola bars aren't very good, and the Morning Start bars are insultingly small, but they have the same carb coung as the much-bigger Advantage bars. They kind of achieve the texture of good ol' Carnation breakfast bars, though the one I had also had a distractingly one-note cinnamon flavoring. Basically, though, you'd need to eat more than one to replace breakfast and not be starving, so I'd recommend saving your money. People say all the bars and shakes stall you anyway, and you have to be really careful how you count them towards your daily carb allowance, since every body deals differently with things like glycerin and sugar alcohols. I believe it's unwise to believe the big 2 on the front of the label; I count them as 10 apiece and think that's reasonable. Keeps me from having more than one a day, anyway.
